JUMPING AND GENEVA

In the Summer of '09 I ended up going to Geneva for a few days simply as a favour to help my sister carry her stuff back home after she'd been living out there for 6 months. However, I met a whole bunch of fantastic people and a few weeks later ended up going back there. During that second trip we drove 4 hours to the Verzasca Dam -as seen in the opening scenes of the James Bond film 'Golden Eye'- and, like 007 himself, took turns to bungee jump off the top of the 220 meter concrete wall, as proven by the video above.

Geneva in the Summer is fantastic. It was so hot, rent-a-bikes are free and the lake is warm enough to comfortably swim as well as being crystal blue. Add to that the sound bunch of people we were hanging with out there and it's no wonder I was making the most of EasyJet's cheap flights, going to Geneva no less than 3 times in about 6 weeks.

Even though Geneva is a very expensive place (I could not BELIEVE the price of drinks in bars; £20 for a beer!!!) we managed to save our pennies by sleeping on the floors of very generous people and doing lots of things that didn't cost much. Everyone over there speaks at least 3 languages and a few of the group we were hanging out with worked at CERN. Another guy worked for Facebook! It was a very interesting, varied and intelligent group, to be honest, averaged out a bit by me. There seemed to be house parties almost every night and the days were spent cycling round the city (on the free bikes) and taking Pedalos out into the middle of the lake and swimming there. An easy, easy life!
